About Me
Christy Neveu is a Métis artist of Cree and European descent, with Métis roots in North Battleford Saskatchewan. Christy’s singing career began at the tender age of eight, where she found herself auditioning for and landing vocal sessions for The Brick, Block Parents and Canada Safeway. This early experience set the stage for an enduring career in music.
After high school Christy set her sights on live performance, targeting nightclub and casino venues across Canada. She soon found herself sharing stages with Long John Baldry, Cathy McDonald, Tragically Hip and Bret Michaels. As well as headlining shows with her band Mothergroove.
Christy’s voice has been described as captivating and emotive, with a strong bluesy edge. Her versatility is her strength, giving her dimension and depth. From a lullaby to a full out rock anthem, her voice covers all the bases.
In 1998 Christy lost her Grandmother Neveu to cancer. This experience led Christy to an awakening of her ancestry, giving her a new found sense of being. This also led Christy to explore her creative side writing songs and poetry giving her a place to express her most personal feelings.
Ten years later and Christy has released her first solo album “Pink Noise” with an accompanying video for the song “Broke Down Busted”. The album’s songs are introspective and melodic featuring a hybrid style of Hip-Hop beats Synth Pop and heavy detuned guitars. Truly a reflection of Christy’s diverse musical vision.
